Difficulty: Easy

Length: Approximately 1 mile

Elevation Gain: 0

Season: May-October

Location: Sumpter, OR (35 minutes from Baker City, OR)

Notes: No shade, so best to enjoy early in the day or on a cool day.

The Sumpter Dredge is such a neat piece of the local history. Stop by for a free self-guided tour of the dredge and then enjoy the walking paths that wind through the dredge pilings. If you visit on a weekend, they typically have gold panning demonstrations as well.

There are some fun bridges along the way and the creek follows along most of the path.

Getting there: From Baker City, travel south on Highway 7. Turn right onto OR-410 towards Sumpter and then left onto Austin Street.
